  From Robert L. Winder, July 2010: Reference the 1870 US Census that I sent you- Note that his son, George, listed in his household. gave his age as 29 years, and that he was married to Mary E., not, repeat not, Ann. In the 1900 US Census, we find Geo. S. Winder, head of household, gave his birth month and year as February 1839. His wife was Mary E. In the 1920 US Census wie find George Winder, age 80, widowed, an inmate of the Confederate Soldiers Home in Richmond. George Winder was aprivate in Co C, 24th VA Confederate Cavalry. He was also known as George S. Window, according to his listing. G. S. Winder filed for a Confederate pension from Essex County, VA So, George Winder, bio #23473, should be GEORGE S. WINDER, and not George E. Winder, I do believe, as George S. Winder, son of John Dennis Winder, was married to (according to Ollie Clarke, Mary E. Brooke which the census records seem to corroborate.
