    • From Mount Morris: Past and Present
      Bert Winders--Enlisted in Canadian Expeditionary Forces, April, 1916, and assigned to 131st Battalion, Machine Gun Section. Sailed for England in the fall of 1916. Was very severly wounded at Vimy Ridge during the Battle of Arras, April 9, 1917, which crippled one leg and one arm. Was taken to Fazakerley Hospital, Liverpool, England, May 9th. Invalided home in January, 1918, and sent to Ontario Military Hospital, Cobourg, Ontario. In July, 1918, transferred to Queens Military Hospital, Kingston, Ontario. In November honorably discharged at Vancouver, B.C. [1]
