  (Research):From Carrissa Wynder-Sanchez, Apr 2014: The story in the family is that Maria was adopted by the Washington Family. Her father was James but was adopted out. On the 1880 Census record I have it is notated that she is "Adopted Daughter". Through Ancestry.com a DNA match was made with Sallie Winder's (1882-1923) descendants in Georgia that confirmed that Maria and Sallie were siblings and daughters of the same James Winder. Precilla is not a Winder connection it is Maria and James (b.1818)
